At Nora, we believe cooking is about much more than recipes: it’s a place to connect and create incredible experiences. That’s why, this Christmas, we put on our aprons alongside acidH to share a very special cooking workshop.
acidH’s main mission is to support people with Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF) or Mild Intellectual Disability (MID), as well as individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, mental health challenges, or situations of high vulnerability.
Their work spans all stages of life and many areas of everyday living: from education and employment to housing and independent living, alongside specialised psychological and psychiatric support. They also offer leisure activities, family support, and guidance to help each person exercise their rights and make decisions about their own lives.
At Nora, we organised this joint cooking workshop with a clear goal in mind: to create a shared learning space. Beyond fundraising, we wanted participants to learn simple, festive recipes they could easily recreate at home, feel more comfortable seeing the kitchen as a safe space, and gain confidence and autonomy in their everyday lives. Our chefs taught them how to prepare Christmas dishes such as Camembert Christmas trees — perfect for sharing — and chocolate wreaths, which quickly became everyone’s favourites.

This workshop was just the beginning of our collaboration with the association. Now, the challenge is even bigger — and more necessary: making a new kitchen for the Vilamarí Home a reality.
Seven adults with Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF) or Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) live in this residence, supported daily by acidH as they work towards greater independence.
The current kitchen is over 30 years old and no longer meets their needs: it’s small, difficult to access, and lacks essential safety conditions. Renovating it means much more than replacing furniture — it means creating a space where residents can learn to cook, prepare their own meals, and carry out everyday activities safely and confidently.
The new kitchen project will allow us to:
-
Adapt the space to make it more accessible and functional
-
Introduce safety measures, such as a ceramic hob and a smoke detection system
-
Create an environment that encourages ongoing learning and practical training
The best part is that you can be part of it too. With any contribution, starting from just €1, you can help bring this new kitchen at the Vilamarí Home to life.
